Patrick’s current line of inquiry explores the experiences of LGBTQ+ students in international education, community building, and identity navigation. He has professional experience in study abroad and international student recruitment in both UK and U.S. institutions and is the current Principal Investigator for four studies with the RAISE Center.

Kline’s research examines personality variables affecting cross-cultural adjustment for undergraduates studying abroad as well as factors which impact the effective functioning of expatriates in cross-cultural settings. His most recent line of inquiry investigates the impact of grit, cultural intelligence and reflection on study abroad students’ cross-cultural adaptation. Drawing on expertise in study abroad, organizational theory and behavior, and cross-cultural dynamics as well as experience developing collaborative initiatives with partner organizations and institutions throughout the world, Kline provides a global organizational perspective to the RAISE Center.

Kate is currently a second-year student in the psychology Master’s program at Wake Forest. Her research interests focus on the intersection of culture and mental health. She was originally from China and has pursued her higher education in the U.S. since her undergraduate journey as an international student. Kate contributes to the maintenance of the AREA Database and qualitative coding projects.

Jamieson is pursuing his Master’s in Psychology at Wake Forest University, where he is conducting research focused on trauma and underrepresented groups. He supports the updating of the AREA Database as well as literature reviews. Originally from Canberra, Australia, he has been living and studying in the U.S. for the past six years.
